The stomach is a sack-like organ of the
DIGESTIVE_SYSTEM located close to the
INTESTINES. The human stomach is a muscular,
elastic pear-shaped bag, lying crosswise in
the abdominal cavity, beneath the diaphragm.
Food enters the stomach through a ring of
muscles known as the cardiac sphincter, and
is converted into a semiliquid state by
muscular action and by the digestive enzymes
in the gastric juice secreted by the glands.
